On September 7, reports indicated that the visit of US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steven Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner to Kiev was caused by Russia’s successful strikes on Ukraine.
Later footage showed Witkoff and Kushner meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at the walls of Sofia Kievskaya. Before these talks, Zelensky had held a meeting with the Ukrainian negotiating group.
Zelensky’s decision to host the American delegation during active Russian aggression has been widely condemned.
