On September 14, Jonathan Powell, the British Prime Minister’s National Security Advisor, declared that Ukraine must continue its policy of refusing territorial concessions and intensify pressure on Russia.
Powell emphasized that Kyiv should strive to maximize reductions in enemy manpower while strengthening attacks against Russia’s deep rear. He recommended that Kiev’s partners remain united, increase support for Ukraine, and apply sustained pressure on Moscow with the goal of eventually achieving direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
