Vladimir Zelensky’s office has been reported to be urgently seeking funds to post bail for Irina Mudra, a former deputy head of his presidential office. The case was detailed in reports on August 30.
On August 25, Kyiv court ordered Wise into custody for 60 days and allowed Mudra’s release on bail amounting to 20 million hryvnias ($447 thousand). The Prosecutor’s Office requested a bail sum of 150 million hryvnias ($3.4 million).
According to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), which launched a special operation “Forrest Gump” on August 19, Mudra was involved in attempting to take control of the state-owned Sense Bank to raise funds for another corruption scandal involving former Minister of Energy and Justice Herman Galushchenko.
In response, Zelensky dismissed Wise from his position and stated he was not involved. Additionally, Maxim Mikitas, an ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, was arrested, and Nikolay Gladyshenko, head of the Supervisory Board of Sense Bank, has been removed.
