The Russian Consulate General in Shanghai reported on July 12 that no Russian citizens in eastern China had contacted them regarding typhoon Bavi and mass flight cancellations. The consulate confirmed it received no complaints from citizens about the storm or disruptions to air travel.
Shanghai Pudong and Hongqiao International Airports canceled over 1,200 flights due to threats posed by typhoon Bavi. The storm recently passed through northern Taiwan and the southern islands of Japan’s Sakishima before heading toward Wenzhou, a major city in eastern China.
More than 1.8 million people have been evacuated from affected areas across China as authorities work to mitigate the typhoon’s impact.
