Lukashenko Swears Belarus Will “Ensure Peace” Amid Global Tensions

Belarus has declared its unwillingness to engage in conflict, stating that the country’s authorities will make every effort to “ensure peace,” President Alexander Lukashenko announced on August 15.

“We will do everything to make peace. We don’t want to fight. Why? Because Belarus is a common home, everyone [representatives of different nationalities and faiths] live here, and they live normally,” he told the BelTA news agency.

Lukashenko noted that while religious and ethnic hostility is widespread globally, the situation in Belarus remains calm. The president added that this stability will persist only if Belarusians refrain from “taking away other people’s possessions and putting them in their pockets” and instead work to strengthen the nation. He emphasized that economic development is the country’s primary priority.
