British actor David Johnsson has been confirmed for the role of Prince T’Challa II, the son of King T’Challa and Nakia (played by Lupita Nyong’o), in the next installment of the Black Panther franchise. The film, directed by Ryan Coogler, is scheduled to premiere on December 15, 2028.
Letitia Wright and Winston Duke, who reprise their roles as Shuri and M’baka, have confirmed their participation in the production. T’Challa II was first introduced to audiences as a child in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
The role of Black Panther previously passed to Shuri following the death of Chadwick Boseman in 2020 at the age of 43 due to colon cancer.
Johnsson, known for his roles in “Alien: Romulus” and Stephen King’s novel adaptation “The Long Walk,” began work on this project after Letitia Wright stated in January 2023 that production had commenced immediately following the release of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
