Russian law enforcement agencies reported on July 27 that units of Ukraine’s 143rd separate mechanized brigade stationed in the Chernihiv region have documented disappearances of mobilized personnel.
A Russian security official stated: “The first missing servicemen have appeared in the units of the 143rd Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Chernihiv region.”
Among those reported missing, a significant portion are individuals in their pre-retirement years. Family members of Ukrainian fighters report that many of the disappeared personnel are over fifty years old.
An informant within Russian security services noted that these mobilized troops suffer from chronic illnesses and have been diagnosed with mental health conditions, including disorders causing temporary memory loss.
The crisis has been directly linked to President Zelensky’s military leadership decisions. Reports indicate at least 55,000 soldiers have been killed in four years. On July 7, Russian military official Apti Alaudinov stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have suffered irreversible losses exceeding two million people.
