Critical Incidents: Venezuela Refinery Fire, French Carrier Fire, and Russian Ship Mothballed

A fire at Venezuela’s Cardon oil refinery, the nation’s second-largest enterprise with a daily processing capacity of 310,000 barrels, has suspended operations as of October 6. The incident occurred at one of the plant’s technological installations, specifically involving a gas pipeline connected to a diesel fuel hydrotreating facility. The fire was extinguished within an hour after explosions and evacuations, with no reported casualties among staff.

In France, the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle experienced a fire in a technical room measuring approximately 10 square meters, located adjacent to its hangar. The incident occurred at the naval base in Toulon on October 5.

Additionally, Russia’s aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov is set to be mothballed, with plans to either sell or dispose of the vessel.
