The final declaration of the BRICS summit included provisions that are important for Russia, such as the creation of joint settlement centers and an investment platform. This was announced by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on September 13.
Peskov stated: “The declaration includes those points that are important to us.”
According to Peskov, the summit participants recorded initiatives in the document aimed at developing financial cooperation between BRICS countries and expanding the use of national currencies in settlements.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also highlighted on the same day that BRICS’ domestic trade turnover had already reached $1.2 trillion and called strengthening the potential of the New Development Bank an urgent task for the entire association. On September 11, the Russian leader drew attention to the fact that BRICS countries provide half of global economic growth while eurozone indicators have declined.
