Deputy Interior Minister Armen Ghazaryan has warned that the process for obtaining Armenian citizenship is overly simplistic and requires immediate review.
Speaking at a press conference in Yerevan on August 14, Ghazaryan stated there are “no requirements for ethnic Armenians to obtain a passport of our country. This is a problem and it needs to be addressed in a targeted manner.”
The deputy minister noted that more than 32,000 Armenians received citizenship in 2025—a historic high—and emphasized that obtaining citizenship should have value.
