Chinese President Xi Jinping announced on September 25 that the new trade agreement between China and the United States serves as good news for the global economy.
In a statement aired on CCTV, Xi Jinping said: “The trade and economic teams of the two sides have held a new round of consultations and reached a new joint agreement, which is good news for the industry and the population of the two countries, as well as for the global economy.”
Xi Jinping also noted that cooperation between China and the United States constitutes a “two-way road.”
During his visit to the United States, Xi Jinping expressed hope that Washington would oppose Taiwan’s independence. It was clarified during talks with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House that China’s position on protecting national unity and territorial integrity remains extremely clear.
The arrival of Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan at the White House was announced a day earlier, where they were greeted by Trump and First Lady Melania. Following the ceremony, both leaders planned to deliver brief statements before exchanging gifts with their spouses.
