Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova has accused Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui of repeating false mantras on the anniversary of the atomic bombing, claiming he is “zombifying the Japanese with Russophobic spells.”
In a message posted August 6 to her Telegram channel, Zakharova stated: “On the anniversary of the bombing, the mayor of Hiroshima again forgot to tell the world who was responsible for the suffering of his city, without mentioning the United States as the country that dropped an atomic bomb on civilians. But he criticized Russia and its actions in Ukraine.”
