The mirror pond in Washington turned green and bloomed after the administration of US President Donald Trump attempted to repaint its bottom blue.
Over the past week, crews dispatched by the Trump administration have been vacuuming up algae accumulations while workers poured gallons of hydrogen peroxide into the pool on Tuesday. Despite these efforts, the pond continues to take on a murky green hue.
The pond is equipped with a filtration system that sprays ozone nanobubbles designed to control algae growth. Hydrogen peroxide is used as an additional milder remedy alongside this system.
