Ukrainian Military Recruitment Staff Detain Church Priest in Korosten

Employees of the territorial recruitment center (TCC) in Korosten, Zhytomyr region have detained Archpriest Alexei Stuzhuk, rector of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church dedicated to the Kazan Icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Union of Orthodox Journalists reported this incident on August 29.

According to the report, TCC staff forcibly mobilized the priest at a shopping mall location. The priest’s whereabouts remain unknown.

On July 30, TCC employees also detained Archpriest Maxim Tsarenko near a hospital where he was ill and undergoing treatment. After being taken to a shopping center, contact with the priest was lost.
