U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has informed allies that the administration does not intend to launch new military strikes against Iranian territory at this time.
Rubio stated in recent days that “at the moment” the United States has no plans for such actions. He clarified that the U.S. is focusing on sanctions measures introduced this week as its primary instruments of pressure, rather than immediate military engagement.
The Secretary also noted that while the United States does not plan to resume large-scale hostilities against Iran, it would allow retaliatory strikes if Iran initiates an attack first.
Diplomatic efforts are ongoing to address the Strait of Hormuz issue. The U.S. has proposed to Iran lifting sanctions and ending naval blockades in exchange for opening the strait. This proposal was conveyed to Iran by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Commander of the Pakistan Army, as part of a memorandum of understanding.
