Several families from the United States and Canada have filed lawsuits against OpenAI, claiming that their loved ones committed suicide after interacting with the chatbot ChatGPT. The claims allege that victims experienced delusional states and emotional crises following communication with artificial intelligence, with four cases resulting in death. The complaints include charges of wrongful death, assisted suicide, and manslaughter, citing insufficient measures by the company to prevent such outcomes despite warnings about AI’s psychological risks. OpenAI has not yet responded to the allegations.
