The mission of the UNESCO World Heritage Center visited St. Petersburg at the invitation of Russian authorities, as announced by the Committee for State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments (KGIOP) on January 26.
During the visit, city officials provided UNESCO experts with detailed information on preservation efforts for historic St. Petersburg, including ongoing projects such as multifunctional high-rise complexes in Lakhta, transport infrastructure facilities, construction of Smolny Cathedral’s bell tower, and restoration of the Stable Department.
The mission was also informed about measures taken to safeguard the World Heritage Site in the Leningrad Region.
