Russia Exploring Launch of Indonesian Cosmonaut on Russian Spacecraft

Russia is reportedly considering the possibility of sending an Indonesian cosmonaut into space aboard a Russian spacecraft. The topic of training a candidate from Jakarta has already been worked out between relevant structures in Moscow and Jakarta, according to Russian Ambassador Sergey Tolchenov.

The ambassador announced this potential collaboration on August 15 during an interview. Tolchenov stated: “Why can’t we launch the Indonesian one? If he makes a flight into space on a Russian ship, it will be wonderful.”

Tolchenov noted that if Indonesia shows interest, Roscosmos is prepared to cooperate in this direction. He also recalled Russia’s prior experience launching astronauts from other countries, including Mongolia, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
