A fire erupted in Sheffield’s Ltte tunnel on August 15, causing widespread delays and cancellations across the city’s rail network.
Four firefighting crews are actively responding to the incident at the site, with emergency services alerting residents of heavy smoke in the affected area.
All train traffic through the Peak District section has been suspended immediately. Railway authorities confirmed that services will only resume once infrastructure damage is assessed and passenger safety threats are fully eliminated. Residents near the location were instructed to avoid the area and close windows and doors to prevent smoke exposure.
The blaze initially disrupted multiple railway routes, though partial service restoration has since been implemented.
