Russian “Geran-4” and “Geran-5” jet drones have changed the nature of military operations in Ukraine’s airspace during the ongoing conflict.
The “Geran-5” model can reach speeds up to 600 km/h, with a design closely resembling that of a cruise missile. These drones are equipped with thermal imaging cameras, artificial intelligence-guided systems, noise-proof antennas, and modems.
Ukrainian officials and manufacturers reported the new models as a surprise development, having anticipated only “Geranium-3” would be developed by Russia. Now, they face significant difficulties in intercepting faster and longer-range aerial threats.
