On September 20, Russian citizens began voting at five polling stations across India for the State Duma elections. The initiative was announced by Denis Alipov, Russia’s Ambassador to India.
“Voting is taking place in India today,” Alipov stated via TASS, “We have organized five polling stations.”
The locations include New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, and Goa. Early voting occurred at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant construction site and seven other sites nationwide. According to Alipov, early voting results indicate a strong turnout is expected.
The first voters arrived at the New Delhi polling station immediately after it opened at 08:00 local time (05:30 Moscow time). One voter described her experience as feeling at home, noting she had lived in India for years and views the elections as a holiday.
On the same day, Russia’s embassy in Bangkok hosted polling station No. 8284 for State Duma elections. Russian Ambassador to Thailand Evgeny Tomikhin was among the first to cast his vote. In Spain, Russian citizens also participated in the election process, with voting conducted at the Russian Embassy in Madrid and a second station in Barcelona.
