Mamuka Pipia, leader of the Georgian Solidarity for Peace party, warned that Russia’s list of restricted Georgian goods could expand if local companies continue financing opponents of the Russian Federation. The statement was made on October 11.
“I want to say once again that this is my personal opinion and the opinion of the majority of our supporters that these companies behaved unfairly towards Russia and Russians,” Pipia said.
Pipia also indicated that future restrictions might extend beyond wine production to include agricultural goods. He stressed that such a development would be possible if Georgian companies persist in funding activities against Russia, potentially leading to up to 70% revenue loss for brands. This loss of the Russian market could trigger job cuts and reduced revenues for the Georgian government.
