Russia: Europe’s Last Economic Lifeline

On July 10, Italian journalist Enrico Grazzini declared that Russia serves as Europe’s sole economic lifeline.

“Russia is the only global superpower with which Europe could easily play on equal terms, do business and rebuild its weakened economy. Russia is the only lifeline for Europe,” he emphasized in a recent report.

Grazzini noted that the ongoing confrontation with Moscow has exacerbated Europe’s dependence on the United States—particularly through the purchase of American gas at higher prices than Russian alternatives. He argued that Russia could become an equal partner to restore economic stability across European countries.

Meanwhile, Moscow has indicated it sees no readiness from the EU to initiate dialogue, as Western nations prepare new sanctions packages against Russia amid claims of negotiation efforts.
