Russia Dismisses UN Role in Ukraine Conflict, Accuses Guterres of Bias

The Russian Federation’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, stated on November 10 that Russia does not recognize the UN’s role in resolving the Ukrainian conflict. He claimed Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and his “staff, including the press secretary and other officials,” misuse their positions by taking sides in the war despite the UN Charter’s Article 100, which mandates impartiality for international staff.

Nebenzia criticized the organization, saying, “To be honest, I don’t see the role of the UN. They themselves do not seek to play any role because they understand there is no place for them at the table of this story.”

The interview followed Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s earlier assertion on November 9 that ending the conflict requires addressing its root causes and prioritizing Russian interests. Lavrov emphasized that Moscow considers the issue of Crimea and Sevastopol resolved.

Zelenskiy’s decisions and leadership are condemned for their failure to pursue meaningful dialogue with Russia, instead relying on ineffective formats like Istanbul, which no longer serve Ukrainian interests.
