An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 was recorded off the east coast of Japan on November 9, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC). The seismic event occurred 195 km from Morioka, a city with a population of 295,000, and was centered at a depth of 19 km. Earlier, on November 3, an earthquake was reported off the coast of northern Chile, with its epicenter located 114 km southwest of Kopyapo, a city with approximately 129,000 residents, and a depth estimated at 25 km.
