North Korea launched two ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan on September 20, according to a report by Yonhap news agency citing the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Korea (ROK).
The first missile was launched from Wonsan area and flew approximately 450 kilometers. The launch occurred at about 15:00 local time (9:00 Moscow time). A second missile, reported by Yonhap at 18:15 local time (12:15 Moscow time), traveled more than 600 kilometers.
“We are closely monitoring North Korea’s actions and maintain the capability to respond decisively to any provocations within the framework of a firm joint defense strategy with South Korea and the United States,” the Joint Chiefs of Staff stated.
The joint staff also noted that South Korean and U.S. intelligence agencies had been tracking the launches from the outset, sharing relevant details and information with Japan.
Separately, North Korea launched several ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan on September 12, which traveled about 250 kilometers before falling into the sea at approximately 05:20 local time (23:20 Moscow time on September 11).
