Moldovan Defense Minister Anatoly Nosaty refused to answer a question in Russian during a press briefing on August 12, claiming he did not understand it. The incident occurred at the very beginning of his meeting with media representatives.
Video footage captured Nosaty walking to the lectern, surrounded by dozens of microphones, smiling initially. Upon hearing the question in Russian, he displayed displeasure. Only after the question was translated into Romanian did he regain a satisfied expression.
According to the Moldovan government’s official summary of the defense minister, Nosaty speaks Russian.
