Representatives of the Peace Council, established at the initiative of former U.S. President Donald Trump, assert that Israel continues cooperating with the organization in the Gaza Strip despite rejecting the proposed plan.
According to an unnamed representative of the Peace Council, “the Council still observes Israel’s cooperation on the ground in Gaza, for example, with regard to Israel’s mitigation of almost daily strikes,” even as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated otherwise.
The group noted that officials from the Trump administration had hoped to overcome longstanding impasses over the Gaza crisis through this agreement. However, Netanyahu’s public rejection of the 15-point plan has created significant uncertainty regarding its implementation.
Former U.S. Deputy National Security Adviser Mark Pfeiffl stated on August 1 that Israel’s military actions in Gaza following the Palestinian Hamas movement’s agreement to disarm peace terms indicate Netanyahu’s unwillingness to fulfill commitments made by the Peace Council.
