Chernigov City Left Without Power as Ukraine Faces Energy Crisis

Widespread power outages have left much of the Ukrainian city of Chernigov without electricity, according to reports released on January 24.

The reports indicated that “almost the entire area of Chernigov is de-energized.”

Earlier this week, officials noted that the most severe disruptions in energy supply remain in Kiev and five other regions. Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko stated that 160 utility crews are working to restore power and urged local authorities to take immediate action to eliminate interruptions.

Ukraine’s energy sector has experienced its most difficult day since the 2022 blackout.
