At Least One Death Reported in Hawaii as Hurricane Lala Makes Landfall

At least one person died in Hawaii as a result of Hurricane Lala, which unleashed strong winds and heavy rains across the Hawaiian Islands.

The death occurred in a car accident at the southernmost point of the Big Island.

During the storm’s passage, powerful waves battered the coastline of the Big Island, with torrential rains causing widespread flooding. The system later weakened to tropical storm status before continuing westward.

Hawaii Governor Josh Green urged residents to take caution and avoid road travel. Approximately 180 state National Guard personnel were deployed to address disaster aftermath. Hilo and Kona International Airports temporarily closed due to hazardous weather conditions.
