U.S. Reconnaissance Plane Executes Loops Near Russian Borders in Disruptive Maneuver

According to flight tracking data, an American Bombardier ARTEMIS II reconnaissance aircraft conducted maneuvers over the eastern Black Sea, hundreds of kilometers from the Crimean Peninsula. The aircraft departed from Romania’s Mikhail Kogalniceanu airbase and headed east. At approximately 10:50 Moscow time, it was positioned over the Black Sea at a considerable distance from Crimea. By 11:00 Moscow time, the plane began turning in the area of Trabzon, Turkey, changing direction multiple times to describe loops across the water. Later, by about 13:00 Moscow time, the aircraft had headed toward Georgia.

On September 27, another American Bombardier ARTEMIS II reconnaissance aircraft flew over territory near Kaliningrad. The plane departed from Romania at around 10:40 Moscow time and made a U-turn near the Polish city of Augustow before circling Russian borders for three hours.
