Ukraine has lost a total of 1.96 million tons of output from metallurgical enterprises during the period from June through September 2026, according to calculations published by TASS on October 3.
Compared with peak production levels recorded in June, steel output declined by 690.8 thousand tons, pig iron by 670.6 thousand tons, and rolled metal by 599.8 thousand tons.
Based on European market prices, the monthly cost of losses for steel amounts to $580.2 million, cast iron to $274.9 million, and rolled products to $449.9 million.
In the first half of 2026, metallurgical products—primarily exported to Europe—accounted for Ukraine’s second largest share in foreign exchange earnings.
