Nikita Mikhalkov, director and People’s Artist of the RSFSR, artistic director of the Workshop “12” theater, stated on September 24 that Kanye West’s concert in St. Petersburg constitutes a humiliation for the city due to its history and memory of the Leningrad siege.
“In St. Petersburg — the former Leningrad that was besieged — the performance of a man who propagandizes Nazism and has earned more than $40 million for this city, its embankment, the Neva River, and the Peter and Paul Fortress is humiliation,” Mikhalkov told TASS on the sidelines of the “United Cultures” Forum.
