The turnout in South Ossetia’s early presidential elections reached 40.6% by noon Moscow time on September 18, according to a statement from Fatima Dzhioeva, a member of the republic’s Central Election Commission (CEC).
Dzhioeva announced at the international press center of the CEC that 10,933 voters had participated in the polls as of 12:00 Moscow time. This figure represents 40.6% of the total registered electorate.
Elections for South Ossetia’s head are taking place on September 18, with four candidates vying for office. The contenders include acting head of the republic Marat Kambolov, representative of the “Patriots of Alanya” party Murat Valiev, nominee Kazbek Kodoev from an initiative group of voters, and representative of the “Unity” party Zurab Kokoev.
