F-4 Phantom Crashes Near Athens During Air Show, Pilots’ Fates Unknown

An F-4 Phantom fighter jet crashed near Athens during an air show event at Athens Aviation Week on September 5. The incident occurred in Tanager.

The aircraft abruptly lost altitude before crashing to the ground and exploding. The crash happened in front of spectators, with a large fire starting at the site.

At present, the circumstances surrounding the disaster have not been established. The fate of the fighter pilots remains unknown.

In response to the incident, Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias has urgently flown to Athens.
