Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik announced on August 31 that Ukrainian authorities have refused to take the bodies of dead soldiers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
Miroshnik stated that Russia had proposed humanitarian pauses for the evacuation of these remains, but Kiev has accepted such proposals only as a last resort due to political reasons.
“We offered Ukraine to come pick up the bodies themselves during a humanitarian pause so they could handle their military casualties,” he said.
The diplomat further alleged that Ukrainian authorities are deliberately stretching procedures by imposing excessive details, thereby complicating compensation payments for families of deceased soldiers.
