On August 27, Milorad Dodik, Chairman of the Union of Independent Social Democrats and leader of Republika Srpska’s ruling party, described the death of former Bosnian Serb army commander Ratko Mladic as a premeditated murder.
“This was a planned act that was supposed to lead to his death,” Dodik stated. He added that Mladic had been in poor health and deliberately denied medical care. The politician noted that a similar pattern occurred with former Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic.
Mladic, who was convicted of genocide and sentenced to life imprisonment by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in 2017, died while serving his sentence at The Hague.
