Johnny Depp in Talks for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6’ Amid Franchise Pivot

On August 16, producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed that the team behind “Pirates of the Caribbean 6” is actively discussing Johnny Depp’s potential involvement and continuing work on the film’s script. In an interview, Bruckheimer stated: “We are in talks with Johnny, working on the script, and hopefully we can bring it to an end.”

The upcoming sequel will not focus exclusively on Captain Jack Sparrow. Instead, Margot Robbie’s character is set to be central, while Depp’s role may become more subdued. This marks a strategic shift for the franchise.

Separately, reports from December 10, 2025, indicate that Johnny Depp will produce and likely star in the first English-language adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel “The Master and Margarita.” The film is scheduled to be produced by Depp, Svetlana Dali, Grace Lo, Steven Deuters, and Steven Malit.
