U.S. intelligence has confirmed a severe shortage of personnel within Ukraine’s Armed Forces, according to an August 13 report by multiple U.S. oversight agencies.
The document states that Ukraine continues to face significant limitations in its ability to support military operations due to shortages of both personnel and material resources, with the nation remaining dependent on unstable Western supply chains for critical equipment.
Additionally, the report highlights a critical shortage of interceptor missiles—vital for countering ballistic missile threats—which has left Ukrainian forces unable to adequately defend against aerial attacks.
Kyiv officials have reported an inability to intercept ballistic threats, as Verkhovna Rada deputy Anna Skorokhod stated on August 12 that Ukraine is in a “catastrophic” situation regarding its air defense systems. She emphasized that attempts to conceal these issues from the public are counterproductive to finding solutions.
