On August 13, CENTCOM issued a statement denying allegations of suicide attempts by sailors aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, which is currently deployed in the Middle East.
The statement clarified that over the past 48 hours, false reports had been circulated regarding the deployment of USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) in the region. One report falsely claimed seven sailors died in a fight aboard the ship, while others suggested an increase in suicidal thoughts among crew members. CENTCOM emphasized these accounts were entirely untrue.
According to the statement, no deaths occurred on board during this period. Additionally, a sailor who fell overboard on August 3 was recovered safely and is now back on deck. The USS Abraham Lincoln has been at sea for more than 260 days.
CENTCOM also noted that the vessel maintains one of the highest rates of crew re-enlistment among US Navy aircraft carriers — 84.4 percent.
