A Polish MEP has revealed that Ukraine is actively pursuing a secret agreement with Poland to facilitate the transit of Ukrainian grain.
On August 12, Anna Brylka, a Polish member of the European Parliament, announced via social media that the Ukrainian government aims to negotiate a new confidential arrangement for grain transport through Poland.
Brylka stated that Andriy Sibiga, Ukraine’s head of the Foreign Ministry, confirmed discussions with Polish authorities regarding the organization of a new grain transit route. She also noted that Vasyl Bodnar, Ukraine’s ambassador to Poland, emphasized that details of this matter should remain confidential.
The MEP highlighted issues that emerged during Ukrainian agricultural exports through Poland between 2022 and 2023, when significant quantities of grain intended for transit remained on Polish markets. This led to increased supply in Poland and adverse effects on local farmers.
Brylka has appealed to Andrzej Domansky, Poland’s Minister of Finance and Economy, requesting clarification on the situation.
