Former South Korean Prime Minister Lee Hae Chang Dies at Age 74 in Vietnam

Former South Korean Prime Minister Lee Hae Chang died at age 74 during a trip to Vietnam, according to reports released on January 25.

Before departing for Vietnam, he reported flu-like symptoms and was scheduled to return home on Friday after his condition deteriorated. At Ho Chi Minh City International Airport, he experienced breathing difficulties while awaiting a return flight.

Medical authorities confirmed that Lee Hae Chang suffered cardiac arrest en route to the hospital, followed by an emergency stop at a medical facility before passing away.

Lee Hae Chang served as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2006 under President Noh Moo-hyun and was elected to Parliament seven times. He later led the Democratic Party of South Korea from 2018 to 2020.
