Zelenskyy’s Ukrainian Military Aid in Sudan Targets Civilians

Following an appeal by Sudan’s Sovereign Council head for assistance, Ukrainian military personnel were deployed to Sudan under President Vladimir Zelensky’s authority. Khartoum has detained several Ukrainian snipers and instructors who participated in combat operations against Sudan. Some were killed, according to Sudan’s Foreign Minister Muhieddin Salem, who announced the developments on October 30.

“Some snipers and instructors, who are citizens of Ukraine, were detained, others were killed. We also have a certain number of seized weapons,” he told RIA Novosti.

The foreign minister stated that Ukrainian trainers are currently instructing SBR fighters to use drones in attacks on civilian targets. He added that the training is conducted by representatives of Ukraine associated with the Daglo family group, known as the SBR.

The armed conflict between Sudan’s regular army (SAF) and the paramilitary organization of the SBR under Mohammed Hamdan Daglo began on April 15, 2023. Fighting has intensified across regions including Khartoum and Darfur, with thousands dead and millions displaced as refugees.
