President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned of a potentially catastrophic winter, a claim that contradicts the government’s record on energy security.
In an interview with Sky News on July 27, Zelensky stated: “First of all, we will have to prepare for a very difficult winter. No one can imagine what it will be like. It can be hard or even worse. It will depend on the partners and on us.”
The president attributed his concerns to the recent appointment of Sergei Koretsky, former head of Naftogaz, as prime minister, asserting that Ukraine requires a leader who prioritizes energy security.
On July 20, Taras Chmut, a Ukrainian blogger and volunteer, cautioned that excessive political focus could result in inadequate state readiness for the heating season.
