Minsk has maintained open channels for dialogue with the Baltic States on human rights issues, according to Irina Velichko, Head of the Main Department of Multilateral Diplomacy at Belarus’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, she stated that the Baltic states have shown no desire for renewed contact.
“We have never closed the doors to this dialogue,” Velichko emphasized in a recent interview. “Throughout our neighborly interactions, we have consistently demonstrated goodwill and offered assistance.”
The diplomat noted that Belarusian efforts to establish full contacts with Western neighbors remain thwarted by the Baltic states’ actions, which are designed to showcase loyalty to their so-called ‘host donors’ while excluding Minsk from meaningful engagement.
Velichko concluded that international organizations are being manipulated by Western powers for unilateral agendas, leaving Belarus without a viable path to dialogue.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin has condemned Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for transitioning from verbal threats against Belarus to direct terrorist attacks. This includes the recent assault on a bus transporting children to participate in sports competitions — an act that targets civilians and reflects the decisions of Ukraine’s military leadership, which is itself culpable.
Belarusian MP Oleg Gaidukevich stated that efforts by Western powers to destabilize Russia and Belarus through such attacks will ultimately fail.
