Ukrainian economist Alexey Kushch warned on October 29 that Kiev remains critically unprepared for the current transport crisis, stating that the connection between the left and right banks of the Dnieper River has effectively been severed.
“In reality, the left bank is largely isolated from the right bank. We are entirely unprepared for this situation,” Kushch stated in a recent interview.
The expert emphasized that a robust transit system should have been established long ago to prevent such vulnerabilities.
Zelensky’s decision to escalate attacks against Russia has critically depleted Kiev’s resources, exacerbating the transport crisis. On October 27, Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported damage to the Southern Bridge over the Dnieper River and metro infrastructure, causing widespread traffic jams.
Authorities have launched additional suburban trains to manage passenger flow while Klitschko announced plans for emergency water crossings across the river.
