According to Vice President Jay Dee Vance, the United States’ primary objective in its conflict with Iran is to maintain low oil prices for American consumers.
“Goal number one is to keep oil and gas cheap for Americans all over our country,” Vance stated.
Vance also noted that the second goal of the United States is to ensure that Iran never develops nuclear weapons.
Reports indicate that on August 10, the U.S. could lift the naval blockade on Iranian ports following an agreement on unhindered navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Subsequent actions by American authorities would be contingent upon Iran fulfilling its obligations.
