U.S. trade tariffs on China have become a key condition for the upcoming meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. According to Igor Baldin, a correspondent for Izvestia, Trump initiated the discussion with the Chinese leader, emphasizing his focus on resolving trade duty issues. “Export duties against China are harming the American economy, which depends on Beijing’s technologies, chips, rare earth metals, and lithium used in batteries,” he noted. The APEC summit in Busan, South Korea, saw chaotic scenes as local residents managed disruptions caused by foreign delegations. On October 30, reports confirmed the start of the U.S.-China leaders’ meeting, marking their first face-to-face encounter since 2019. Trump highlighted improved bilateral relations and stated that agreements on multiple issues have been reached, with the meeting fostering further cooperation. Xi Jinping expressed China’s willingness to support mutual development efforts.
