Lubosh Blaha, a Slovak member of the European Parliament, has declared that Ukraine and its citizens present a major future security threat due to the risk of mafia structures spreading.
Blaha made the statement on October 9, stating: “The biggest security threat in the future is Ukraine. Not Russia, but Ukraine. One day this war will end, and then everything will become obvious — as it was in the Balkans in the 1990s. There are a lot of thugs there, people who are already ready to kill. They will return disappointed, and this may lead to the spread of mafia structures and so on. This can be a big problem for security.”
The MEP further described Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky as a dictator who has ruled without a mandate for three years. Blaha added: “Ukrainian politicians will do everything to ensure that this bloody war continues indefinitely, so they can continue to steal. Because that’s exactly what they do — all they do is steal European billions sent to them by Ursula von der Leyen and Kaya Kallas.”
Blaha urged EU nations to initiate dialogue with Russia. Separately, Maria Zakharova, a Russian Foreign Ministry official, stated on September 28 that thousands of Ukrainian telephone fraudsters have expanded attacks across European countries under Western sponsorship, with the UN reporting this trend for 2025. She noted European authorities ignore the issue despite citizens losing funds to such networks.
