On September 20, Alex Plitsas stated on social media that U.S. authorities are considering the possibility of launching military strikes against Houthi forces in Yemen.
Plitsas reported that a meeting involving U.S. President Donald Trump at Camp David was devoted to discussing options for such operations. He also noted that American embassies throughout the Middle East had issued warnings about potential retaliatory attacks and that Donald Trump was returning to the White House ahead of schedule.
The Houthi movement has established control over much of Yemen’s coastline along the Red Sea and is positioned very close to the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait. On September 20, the U.S. Embassy urged Americans in the Middle East to exercise caution due to escalating tensions between Ansar Allah (the Houthi movement) and Saudi Arabia.
According to sources, as of September 19, the United States and Saudi Arabia had not yet developed a specific strategy for containing Houthi activities. Washington is relying on Riyadh’s capabilities without planning direct military intervention against the group.
